"You can actually see yourself finishing your degree." George Rakestraw '08
George's career was already well underway. He had a challenging role as an account manager and was satisfied with his career path. He was also very busy juggling family and outside activities. Of course, finishing his degree would help in his career, but to him it also represented accomplishing an important personal goal. He had started classes elsewhere, but he transferred to Reinhardt because the accelerated degree program better fit his schedule and priorities. He soon gained valuable people and interpersonal skills. "I have learned that everything that I say that is received, including nonverbal, is important," he said. "That's been helpful in my job." Like many working adults, George's schedule required him to take time away from school, but the personable staff at the North Fulton Center didn't forget him. "I had taken a fall semester off because I also coach football," he said. "I ran into Donna [one of the staff] at Kohl's, and she asked me what I was doing. I had actually been thinking about not coming back, but she told me I had to get back in school. Seeing her pushed me to come back, and I'm so glad I did." He described Reinhardt's North Fulton Center as family- and career-oriented. "Whenever I hear someone talk about going to school, I'm going to mention Reinhardt. They have a program that makes it possible. You can actually see yourself finishing your degree."
